We hold to the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Reformed confessions. Our beliefs are grounded in Scripture and shaped by the great theological traditions of the church.
The Bible
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. It is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. The Bible is God's revelation to humanity, written by human authors under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are one in essence, power, and glory. God is infinite, eternal, unchangeable, and perfect in all his attributes.
The Father
We believe in God the Father, the first person of the Trinity, who is the creator and sustainer of all things. He is sovereign over all creation and works all things according to the counsel of his will.
The Son
We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who became flesh and dwelt among us. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life. He died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father, where he intercedes for us.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He regenerates, indwells, guides, teaches, and empowers believers for service.
Humanity
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God, male and female, to glorify God and enjoy him forever. Through the fall of Adam, all humanity is now sinful by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under his just condemnation. Apart from God's grace, we are unable to save ourselves or come to God.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. We are justified by faith, not by works. Salvation is the work of God from beginning to end, and we contribute nothing to our own salvation. God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, and he effectually calls us to himself through the gospel.
Election
We believe in the biblical doctrine of election. Before the foundation of the world, God chose a people for himself in Christ. This election is not based on anything in us, but solely on God's sovereign grace and love.
Regeneration
We believe that regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit, who makes us new creatures in Christ. This is a supernatural work that enables us to repent and believe the gospel.
Justification
We believe that justification is the act of God by which he declares us righteous in his sight. This is based on the perfect righteousness of Christ, which is imputed to us through faith.
Sanctification
We believe that sanctification is the ongoing work of God in the life of the believer, by which we are progressively conformed to the image of Christ. This is a cooperative work between God and the believer, as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live godly lives.
Perseverance
We believe that all true believers will persevere in faith to the end. God preserves his people, and they will never finally fall away from grace. Those who do fall away were never truly regenerate.
The Church
We believe in the universal church, which consists of all true believers in Christ, and the local church, which is a visible expression of the universal church. The church is the body of Christ, and he is its head. The church exists to worship God, build up believers, and spread the gospel to all nations.
Church Government
We believe that the church is to be governed by a plurality of elders, who are called to shepherd the flock and provide spiritual oversight. We practice elder-led, congregational church government.
The Sacraments
We believe that Christ has given the church two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism is the sign and seal of our union with Christ and our entrance into the covenant community. The Lord's Supper is the sign and seal of our participation in the benefits of Christ's death and our ongoing nourishment in him.
The Last Things
We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the wicked will suffer eternal punishment. We believe in the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.
Confessional Standards
We subscribe to the historic Reformed confessions, including the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms, as accurate summaries of biblical doctrine. These confessions guide our teaching and practice, and we are committed to their biblical fidelity and theological clarity.
